Microleakage of Endodontic Temporary Restorative Materials under Dynamic Loading

چکیده
During endodontic treatment, it is important to create a fluid-tight seal in the access cavity in order to prevent marginal leakage and the ingress of oral fluids and microorganisms into the root canal. Nevertheless, temporary filling materials have received less attention than materials used for a permanent and prolonged use. However, they are an essential link in the chain that leads to disinfecting and preventing contamination or recontamination of the root canals. Numerous methods have been described to determine the sealing ability of endodontic temporary restorative materials. Beside dye penetration tests, autoradiography, electrochemical methods, fluid filtration techniques, and bacterial penetration tests have been applied to determine microleakage. Among these methods, dye penetration tests are the most popular method for studying microleakage because they are easy to conduct. In most of the previous studies regarding microleakage, specimens were placed in a dye Microleakage of Endodontic Temporary Restorative Materials under Dynamic Loading

Sealing ability of three temporary filling materials in endodontically-treated teeth
Introduction: Coronal microleakage may significantly reduce the prognosis of endodontic treatment. Temporary restorative materials have a crucial role in preventing the infection of root canals between and after endodontic treatment. This in vitro study was designed to evaluate the coronal microleakage of three temporary restorative materials used in endodontics: Coltosol, Cavisol and Cina. Mat...
متن کاملComparative Evaluation of Sealing Ability, Water Absorption, and Solubility of Three Temporary Restorative Materials: An in vitro Study
BACKGROUND The quality of the coronal seal of root canal filling material is important for periapical health. Absorption of water or saliva by the temporary restorative materials leads to dimensional changes, loss of retention, staining and breaking in margin contours. Hence this study was carried out to evaluate and compare the sealing properties, water absorption and solubility of IRM (interm...

Background and Aim: The use of proper temporary restorative materials between appointments is critical in successful root canal treatment. The purpose of this study was to compare the coronal microleakage of four temporary restorative materials including Zonalin, Zamherir, Coltosol and IRM. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, standard access cavities were prepared in 120 intact extr...
متن کاملCoronal Microleakage for Readymade and Hand Mixed Temporary Filling Materials
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the sealing ability of the readymade temporary filling and hand mixed materials by assessing coronal microleakage. MATERIALS AND METHODS Standardized access cavities were prepared in 80 intact human permanent premolar teeth. They were divided randomly into four experimental groups (n=20). The teeth were restored using one of the ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Three Irrigants on the Coronal Leakage of the Root Canals System Irrigants
INTRODUCTION The production of smear layer during canal instrumentation is thought to increase coronal microleakage even after canal obturation. Previous studies have shown that the type of irrigant does not necessarily affect the seal of the obturation. Our study aimed to evaluate the effect of three irrigation solutions (MTAD, citric acid and EDTA/NaOCl) on the coronal microleakage of root ca...
